by Cherie McInturff - Written Solutions

Friday, February 06, 2004

Georgia technology entrepreneur Ben Dyer is returning home to Gainesville on Monday, February 16 to speak at the Lake Lanier Technology Alliance’s (LLTA) monthly meeting.

Dyer is one of Georgia’s most recognized technology pioneers who founded Peachtree Software in 1977, which at the time, was named one of the top ten PC software companies in America. Since then, Dyer has founded a variety of successful technology based companies, and was inducted as the 14th member of Georgia's Technology Hall of Fame. Currently, Dyer serves as a General Partner of Cordova Intellimedia Ventures, and is president of Innovations Publishing, which catalogs and follows emerging technology companies in Georgia.

“Ben is truly an inspiration to everyone in the Atlanta technology industry,” said Lee Hemmer, long-time friend of Dyer and associate broker at The Simpson Company. “Technology is an industry that is constantly evolving.  Ben has not only influenced many new technology developments, he has been a catalyst, supporter, and champion of many of them.”

Dyer will be speaking to the LLTA about How to Become a Millionaire in High-Tech Growth Business. “We are greatly anticipating Mr. Dyer’s presentation,” said Kevin York, LLTA Chairman. “The LLTA is heavily invested in the future success of technology in Hall County, so we are thrilled to have an industry pioneer, who is also a Gainesville native, return home to share some of his secrets to success.”

The LLTA was originally founded as part of the Great Hall Chamber of Commerce (GHCC) Hallmark Initiative, a plan to attract more technology, telecommunication and biotech companies to the area. “Technology changes and innovations play an increasingly important part in our lives,” said Kit Dunlap, GHCC President. “The LLTA was created to establish an alliance of area technology professionals and businesses, helping us to be more knowledgeable of the new things that are happening in technology.”

The LLTA meeting will be held Monday, February 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Gainesville Civic Center Chattahoochee room. Cost is $5 for LLTA members and $20 for guests. For more information contact Shelley Davis at (770) 532-6206 or visit www.llta.net.
