| TechLinks Chicken Finger Report on Congressman Nathan Deal |

*************** Chicken Finger Reports *****************
(1) Technology in Congress: An Overview
At the Gainesville College Continuing Education Building, Rep. Nathan Deal addressed the Lake Lanier Technology Alliance about how Congress has approached a variety of technology issues. Deal explained that government has done some positive things in recent years such as updating telecommunications laws and getting public utilities to the masses, yet the desire to regulate within government has delayed some real progress. Several bills concerning VoIP have been introduced and stalled, possibly forcing the FCC to intervene with quicker rules in lieu of this delay. Broadband penetration, Deal said, is also something we need to keep up on - we are 11th in the world (the Netherlands has 98%+ broadband penetration). Attendees asked questions about the CAN-SPAM Act, spam faxes, outsourcing, and taxes - leading to discussion about major issues that affect your business. For more information, visit www.llta.net.
